Summer begins...

Oh hey!

It's crazy how time flies.. I swear it was just December... and then I blinked and now it's the first of June! what?!!! lol. Well, no matter how fast time flies, we've simply got to enjoy ourselves no matter where we are. That is what I've been doing these last couple of days. I've been taking a break from the hussle of life at home in California and truly trying to let go (I feel like that's the hardest part) and let God refresh my spirit. I'm not going to lie-- graduating from college, though such an exciting accomplishment, can wipe a person out. Whew.. and I am no exception. I look at books and want to crawl in my bed and hide... the simple thought of reading makes me want to run. lol.. I'm sure my love of reading will come back soon, but for now I'm enjoying the simplicity of my brain not doing too much (I'm sure this won't last long.. lol).

Though I'm a little worn out, I did say that I LOVEEE to read... and I couldn't help but finish this one book during my last week of college. It was simply irresistable. I started it during the school year and just had to finish it before I went on my reading "strike". It's called, Every Young Woman's Battle by Shannon Ethridge. It's such a great book for any girl out there (they make them for guys too... so guys you're not left out of this one) to better understand the role of guys and girls, as well as one's sexuality, while in every day common/romantic relationships. Even better, it truly dives into issues that a lot of us have dealt with or still deal with (addictions, sexual abuse, lack of knowledge, "grey areas" and so on). It's a good read if you're not doing too much this summer. If you don't have the money to buy a book at this moment (I can totally understand the need to keep a tight budget.. been there.. doing that), peep this talk that Shannon gave at Biola University. If you're a teen or young adult-- this is a MUST see! It was truly enlightening and will hopefully sharpen you in some way.

Until next time, blessings!

Love,

Martay
